Wavecrest URL List 9. The following features have been added:
The new URL List 9 includes new categories, category changes, default abuse threshold changes, cloud service categories, and updated category descriptions. See Category Update for more information.
For existing customers on a previous list version, the following changes apply after upgrading the product:
Home Page:
On the Home page, the Wavecrest URL List Update section indicates that the new list is available and that you read the Category Update document before upgrading the list. A link is provided to go to the URL List Version page.
URL List Version Page:
The List 9 option has been added to the page.
After you upgrade to List 9, the service is restarted, and you are required to download the list. You are then returned to the URL List Version page which indicates that the current URL List version is 9.
A List Conversion Summary Report shows the policies and URL customizations that were affected by the change to List 9. Any affected policies for Web categories, Web content types, bandwidth management, and abuse thresholds as well as changes to supplemental URLs are listed here as applicable to your product.
The List Conversion Summary Report will also be sent via e-mail to the administrator.
In new reports, references to “Unsolicited or Push” will be removed from the Appendix section since this category was deleted.
Cloud Services Reports. The following features have been added:
Report Selection. On the Report Selection page, a Cloud Services Reports section has been added. Cloud Services Detail and Cloud Services Summary are listed in this section and generate reports on only cloud service categories.
Cloud Services Summary. This is a high-level report that shows employee Web use of cloud services. Web activity includes visits to sites in the following cloud service categories: Audio Streaming, Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Storage, Collaboration, CRM, Development, File Sharing, HR, Personal E-Mail, Video Streaming, and VoIP Services. The report can be used to identify cloud service usage patterns, better manage cloud subscriptions, and highlight abnormal activity.
Cloud Services Detail. This is a low-level report that shows the specific URLs of cloud services by user, that is, visits to only the cloud service categories. It provides management with a complete view of every cloud service URL the user has clicked. This information can be used for cloud usage audits, identifying the most active users and the most heavily visited sites.
Real-Time Protocol Monitor. The following features have been added:
The Real-Time Protocol Monitor page has been updated to function like and have a similar user interface to the Real-Time Web Monitor.
The selections for the Controls field have been moved to the Real-Time Protocol Monitor and replaced by icons.
The Submit button has been renamed “Start Monitor” which is enabled when at least one group or ID is selected.
On the Real-Time Protocol Monitor, the controls and settings are available in a toolbar and can be changed while the monitor is gathering data in real time.
Stop and Pause/Resume icons allow you to stop, pause, or resume updating the list of results.
The Clear List button clears the displayed results and restarts the monitor.
The remaining buttons allow you to change your settings at any time for the maximum results, update frequency, groups and IDs, and known protocols.
List Engine. The list engine has been rewritten in Java in order to facilitate expansion and attempt to address a potential memory leak in the previous engine.
Corrections
Bandwidth Management. If SSL Inspection is turned on, bandwidth for secure sites is now throttled when a policy is activated.
Application Controls. Video ID formats containing an ampersand “&” are now allowed. Previously, a video with this format would not play when the video ID was allowed.
Restore Point Path. Previously, an “already mounted” error message prevented backups from being created when using a mapped drive for the restore point location. This has been corrected.
Reporting on the Current Day. Reports can now be run for the current day without manually importing the current day’s log file.
Reports Manager. Previously, if the \reports\system folder got corrupted, the Manage Reports page became blank. This has been corrected.
Category Audit Reports. A Category Audit report can only be run if a category has been selected on the Create Report page. Previously, you could run the report without selecting a category and would receive an exception error.
Report File Name Format. This includes the following changes:
When e-mailing a report, the report file name no longer shows the group name twice. Previously, the group name was being appended to the file name format ReportType_GroupOrID.
For local logging, the File Name Format option is now available on the Report Options page and is applied to report file names if “E-Mail” is selected for the report delivery when creating reports.
Category Trend Chart. The chart now shows the correct classification color for the category. Previously, the default chart library color of blue was being displayed.
Dashboard Data Records. When Groups and IDs were changed (add, delete, modify), the group mapping was not being updated causing the record not to be added properly and throwing an exception error. The group change would not show in the drilldown of the Top Users chart or in the Top Groups chart. This has been corrected.
Long Folder or File Name. When browsing for a folder or file, if the folder or file name is extremely long, the selection box moves to the right in the Select dialog box. This has been corrected.
Buttons in the User Interface. All buttons in the user interface are now displayed with the same shape and color across all browsers. Disabled buttons will be noticeably faded compared to enabled buttons. Previously, it was difficult to determine whether some Submit buttons were enabled or disabled in Chrome.
Warning Font Color. For all warnings, the font color has been changed from yellow to orange to improve readability. Previously, the yellow font color made the text difficult to read.
“Bypassed” User ID. The “bypassed” user ID is no longer counted toward customers’ licensed IDs. Previously, this user ID was being included in the license count preventing users who incorrectly exceeded the license from being filtered.
License Warning. For an expired license, after updating the activation key and clicking Submit on the Update License Information page, the notice about updating your license before using the product is no longer displayed. Previously, the notice remained and was only removed after refreshing the page.
PAC File. This includes the following changes:
The appliance host name and IP address are no longer added to the IP/domain exception list when they are entered in setting up the appliance, or changed on the Settings – Network page.
For existing customers, the local host name and IP address are removed from the exception list when upgrading the product.
