How to Create Reports Focused on Employee Pornography Web Activity

Monitoring access to pornography in the workplace is crucial for maintaining a safe, compliant, and productive environment. Cyfin classifies pornography-related web activity under the standard “Pornography” category, enabling detailed tracking of visits and sessions to mitigate risks such as hostile work environments, legal liabilities, and bandwidth misuse. This supports HR policies, compliance with regulations, and swift corrective actions.

Cyfin offers high-level summary reports for overview insights and audit detail reports for granular details, available at enterprise, group, or individual levels. You can also generate reports on specific sites using site audit features. In the latest versions, new session-based reports provide focused timelines of user engagement with sites, using Session and Session Duration metrics for accurate, noise-free analysis. Due to the legal implications of pornography access, Cyfin includes specialized Legal Liability Reports to highlight high-risk activity across categories like Pornography, Anonymous Proxy, and Gambling. Ensure your URL List is current (via Categorization – URL List – Download) and categories are classified per your policy (via Categorization – Classify Categories).

Note: Cyfin provides both standard reporting (scheduled PDF/HTML templates for email distribution) and dashboard reporting via Visualizer (interactive, login-based self-service exploration with charts and drill-down). Standard reports are ideal for automated sharing, while Visualizer suits real-time analysis by managers or HR. Both leverage the same data, emphasizing Sessions for web activity insights. High-Level Summary Reports on Pornography Activity

High-level reports summarize web activity without displaying full URLs, ideal for identifying trends in pornography access across the organization or groups.

Running a Category Audit Summary Report for Pornography

This report provides a synopsis of Pornography category activity, listing domains, time online, bytes, and visits.

  1. Navigate to Reports – Manager. If reports exist, click the green plus icon to access Report Selection; otherwise, it displays directly.
  2. Under High-Level Summary Reports, select Category Audit Summary.
  3. On the Create Report page:
    • Under Select When to Run, choose Run Now for immediate execution or Schedule for later (specify Name, Frequency like Daily, and time).
  4. Under Settings:
    • Report Delivery: Select Wait (view immediately), E-Mail (enter recipients separated by commas/semicolons), or Save (specify directory).
    • Report Format: HTML or PDF.
    • Report View: Read-Only or Interactive (if available; Interactive not for Save delivery).
    • Data Configuration: Choose specific or all sources (if multiple).
    • Network: Select specific or all segments (if configured).
  5. Under Time Frame, select a Date Range (e.g., Last Week) or Custom (set start/stop dates/times).
  6. Under Groups and IDs:
    • Browse tab: Select groups/users by checking boxes (expand groups with plus icon; search IDs via filter).
    • Select tab: Enter specific IDs (supports wildcards like *name for matching).
  7. After Groups and IDs, select the Pornography category from the list.
  8. Click Run Now (or Schedule and Run).

The report summarizes Pornography activity; drill down for details if Interactive.

Running a Legal Liability Report (High-Level)

This specialized high-level report focuses on visits to high-risk categories including Pornography, shown by category, group, user, and user-within-category.

1-6. Follow steps 1-6 from the Category Audit Summary section above, but select Legal Liability Report under High-Level Summary Reports.

  1. Click Run Now.

Benefits include a focused view for legal/compliance audits and immediate action on potential liabilities.

Audit Detail Reports on Pornography Activity

Audit detail reports reveal full URLs, timestamps, and metrics for forensic analysis.

Running a Category Audit Detail Report for Pornography

This report details all Pornography category URLs visited, with summaries by groups, users, and hourly activity.

1-6. Follow steps 1-6 from the high-level section above, but select Category Audit Detail under Audit Detail Reports.

Additional settings:

  • Visits/Hits: Choose Visits Only (user clicks) or All Hits (includes ads/banners).
  • URL Details: Single line URL (truncated), Full URLs (complete, multi-line), or Text (wrapped plain text).
  1. After Groups and IDs, select the Pornography category from the list.
  2. Click Run Now.

Use report filters (IP, user, URL) to refine results. For example, filter by URL containing specific site names for targeted investigations.

Running a User Audit Detail Report Filtered for Pornography

For individual users:

1-6. Select User Audit Detail under Audit Detail Reports; proceed as above.

Do not select Enterprise; choose specific users/groups.

  1. Run the report.
  2. In the generated report’s Audit Detail section, use the category filter to select Pornography only.

This shows chronological visits with full URLs, filtered to Pornography activity.

Running a Legal Liability Detail Report (Audit-Level)

This audit-level report provides detailed URLs and metrics for high-risk categories including Pornography.

1-6. Follow steps 1-6 from the Category Audit Detail section above, but select Legal Liability Detail Report under Audit Detail Reports.

  1. Click Run Now.

It offers granular data for compliance reviews and evidence gathering.

Session Reports on Pornography Activity

In the latest version of Cyfin, session reports are available in the standard report list and focus on engaged-time metrics (Sessions and Session Duration) for precise productivity and audit insights. These reports provide clean timelines without noise from background hits, ideal for pornography monitoring. Run them similarly to summary and audit reports: Navigate to Reports – Manager, select the report type under the appropriate section, configure settings, time frame, groups/IDs, and specific categories/sites as needed, then Run Now or Schedule.

Running a Session Analysis Report (High-Level)

This high-level report displays every individual session for a specified user over a time period, showing site name, session start time, session stop time, and duration. One-click drill-down reveals all URLs accessed in that session. Benefits include accurate productivity analysis, coaching, or forensic review of focused access periods.

For Pornography activity:

  • Select Session Analysis under High-Level Summary Reports.
  • Choose a specific user (under Groups and IDs).
  • Run the report.
  • In the output, sessions for Pornography sites will appear in the timeline; drill down for details on specific sessions.

Running a Session Audit Support Report (Audit-Level)

This audit-level report displays every session to a specified site (or multiple sites) over a time period, including user, session start time, session stop time, and duration. One-click drill-down shows all URLs within that session. Benefits include deep audits of engagement with risky sites using real engaged-time metrics.

For specific Pornography sites:

  • Select Session Audit Support under Audit Detail Reports.
  • Under Sites, enter the site’s URL (e.g., exampleporn.com; multiple separated by commas).
  • Select users/groups as needed.
  • Run the report.
  • The output lists sessions by users on the specified site(s); drill down for granular URL data.

For focused analysis on specific sites (classified under Pornography):

Running a Site Audit Detail Report

This details activity on one or more specific sites.

1-6. Select Site Audit Detail under Audit Detail Reports; proceed as above.

Additional: Under Sites, enter the site’s URL (e.g., exampleporn.com; multiple separated by commas).

  1. Click Run Now.

The report lists hits/visits chronologically, with summaries by groups/users/hourly.

For summaries without URLs, use Site Audit Summary.

Using Visualizer for Pornography Dashboards

For interactive, visual monitoring, use the Visualizer dashboard (login-based self-service). Build custom dashboards with charts (bar, line, pie, table) showing Pornography category or specific site data, including Sessions and Session Duration. Access via Cyfin login; ideal for real-time exploration and drill-down on high-risk trends. Combine with standard reports for comprehensive oversight.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Scheduling: Automate reports (e.g., daily Pornography summaries or Legal Liability alerts) for ongoing monitoring.
  • Interactive Reports: Enable drilling down from summaries to details.
